Jenson Button has confirmed he will make full-time racing return in 2018, although where has yet to be announced.

The 2009 Formula 1 Champion is currently on sabbatical from Formula 1, made the statement ahead of his Super GT debut this weekend at the Suzuka.

Button has joined Team Mugen, continuing his association with Honda, where he’ll race Honda NSX-GT in the Suzuka 1000km. However, he’s already looking at his options for 2018, sighting options in Asia and America.

“I will be definitely doing something next year for a full season,” said Button.

“Whether it’s here or in America or somewhere else, I don’t know yet.

“But the discussions are underway. We’ll see how this weekend goes.

“If it goes well and if I enjoy the weekend, which I think I will, then maybe I could be racing here next year.”

The Brit’s only other race appearance so far this year has been at the Monaco Grand Prix, where he filled in for Fernando Alonso at McLaren when the Spaniard took the oppurtinuty to race in the Indianapolis 500 instead.
