Further penalties over Saturday’s controversial Turn 2 clash in Race 17 at Sydney Motorsport Park has seen Shane van Gisbergen and Scott McLaughlin pushed further down the finishing order.

After a further review of their clash, which saw van Gisbergen spun around, McLaughlin has had a second penalty of 18s added to his race time. He was originally handed a 15-second penalty, dropping him from second to 10th place. The extra 18s will drop him to 24th position.

Van Gisbergen has been hit with a 33s time penalty, after an investigation showed that he breached the restart procedure. Under Supercars rules, drivers are permitted to overlap before the control line, but not until the green flags are out.

The time penalty will drop SVG from 15th position to 25th.

A Stewards’ report is being prepared and will be circulated prior to Qualifying this morning.
