TOURING CAR MASTERS GEARS UP FOR QUEENSLAND RACEWAY
Steven Johnson will be looking to use his home track advantage to continue his ascendance up the Touring Car Masters points table.
The Queenslander had a tough start to the year, however, a race and round victory at the last round in Darwin has seen him move into third in the outright standings. Johnson sits just 40 points behind outright series leader Adam Bressington (ProAm) and eight points behind John Bowe (ProMaster).
Aiding Johnson’s ambitions is the fact that his car, Mustang ‘Sally’ dominated the last time it raced in Touring Car Masters at Queensland Raceway in the hands of John Bowe.
Johnson is one of five different winners from the eight races (with race two at Winton was not classified as a race) contested this year; joining Bowe, Brad Tilley, Adam Garwood and Greg Garwood on the list.
Fellow Queenslander Jason Gomersall, will also looking to add his name to the winners list as well. He scored solid second place in class for the round up in Darwin with his BigMate Racing A9X hatchback and has fantastic track record at the Ipswich venue.
Auto Action’s own Bruce Williams will also be in contention up in Queensland in his ACDelco backed Holden Torana, after also featuring on the podium in Darwin.
In addition to the regulars, the Touring Car Masters field has been bolstered with the additional of several local Trans-Am cars.
