The ‘second’ Bathurst circuit project has received a significant boost with a pledge of $10 million from the New South Wales government.

The news has been welcomed by the Member for Bathurst, the Hon Paul Toole, who said that the venue was now on-course to join the adjacent Mount Panorama circuit on the motor racing landscape.

“On behalf of the NSW Government Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro, along with Treasurer Dominic Perrottet today announced funding plans for the Bathurst Velocity Park precinct,” he said.

“The NSW Government has set aside $15 million towards the $52 million Velocity Park project, adding to the $10 million already committed by Bathurst Regional Council.”

Mr Toole said that the Velocity Park “would create a new motorsport industry hub, generating business opportunities for a wide range of regional NSW business sectors and new local hospitality, retail, trade and manufacturing jobs all of which brings significant economic and social benefits right across our community.”

Bathurst Regional Council is now seeking Commonwealth support to fully fund the project, which is expected to take two years to build.

Five companies have submitted bids to build the circuit, with the winning layout expected to be revealed next month.
