Macauley Jones has today revealed his #4 DrillPro Racing Commodore ahead of the first Supercars wild card event at Winton Motor Raceway this weekend. The drill rig, parts, hire and training company DrillPro have been long-term supporters of Jones, and are thrilled to back Macauley in his wild card debut.

Macauley said “John and Donna from DrillPro have been supporting me since my Formula Ford days. They are fantastic people and huge Supercar fans I’m excited to represent them in my first ever sprint round.

“I am sure they will be very excited to see the DrillPro Commodore on track and it’s a pretty special thing for them to see this car with their colours on it. Great news is that it will be on my car for the Darwin wildcard event and Townsville Super2 event as well; so they’ll get to see it up close when we head North in July.”

Last week the Super2 Series driver completed a test day at his home circuit of Winton Motor Raceway and was able to get his first run in the car on the new Dunlop SuperSoft tyres.

“The test on Monday (8th May) at Winton was really interesting for me. It was my first run in the car with the new Dunlop SuperSoft tyres. I was a big fan of them; it was great to have a go at these new tyres and feel really confident about the tyre grip underneath you.”

The choice to enter as a wild card at Winton was an easy decision considering the amount of laps Macauley has done at his home circuit over the years. In saying that, there is no high expectation going into the event and Macauley is looking to absorb as much as possible from the experience.

“I’ve thought a lot about this event. It’s one of those weekends where I’m going to have to drive the best as I can. I have no doubt I will learn a lot that will help me move forward in the future.”

“I know I need to step up with these main series drivers. These guys really are on a level up from Super2, I’m excited to get out there and learn from racing and working alongside the other BJR drivers – Slade, Percat and Blanchard.”

For the Winton SuperSprint event Macauley has continued support from PAYCE, EBA Hire, ALPHAFIT, Blue Dinosaur Bars, Karting Madness, Raceworks and extra backing from National Blind Suppliers, Tempur Mattresses and Albury’s McCrae Motors have donated their signage space to the Big Day Out charity.

Macauley will complete the addition driver session this Friday morning on board Nick Percat’s car #8. Then he’ll line up against the Supercars drivers for the weekend in what is an exciting opportunity for the rising Super2 Series racer.
