TRANS-AM 2 HEADS TO QR FOR IPSWICH FESTIVAL OF CARS
FOLLOWING a successful season opener at Lakeside Park, Trans-Am 2 Australia Series heads to Ipswich’s Queensland Raceway for the Ipswich Festival of Cars on the 6th and 7th of May.
The event, which will also be the second round of the Queensland Trans-Am 2 season for 2017, will feature four races across the weekend. With seven of the new cars on track.
Queensland category manager Craig Harris is impressed with the amount of interest for the Trans-Am 2 series since its launch.
“It’s low-cost, high-performance racing, and the ongoing maintenance is very little,” said Harris.
“The engines are sealed, as are the gearboxes and the ECUs. It’s not chequebook racing and that is what has attracted so much interest from competitors already.
“There are 17 cars in the country, with 12 of those sold. With all three brands available, interested owners don’t have to wait to get their hands on a Trans-Am 2.”
“It doesn’t matter whether its a Dodge Challenger, Chev Camaro or a Ford Mustang, the cars are identical in terms of lap times.
“The only variance is the way each owner sets up his car in terms of suspension, spring rates and diff ratio, and how aggressively he drives it.”
