PROTOTYPES DEBUT AT SANDOWN

By Heath McAlpine

The Australian Prototype Championship will debut at Sandown this weekend as part of the opening round of this year’s Shannons Nationals.

A pair of brand new Wolf GB08 Tornado CN Prototypes will feature at Sandown, after freshly arriving from overseas and headline the entry list for the weekend.

The pair of Wolf’s will be joined by a variety of West’s, Radical’s and a singular Prince in a field of 16. One Wolf for Josh Cranston in the outright P1 class alongside West pilots Jason Makris and Mark Laucke.

The P2 Kumho Cup class also compete for the outright class and this is where the second Wolf of Adam Cranston, the Prince of Mark Short and West competitors Johnathon Stoeckel and John Paul-Drake will compete. The Kumho Cup runners can graduate to the P1 class once they have qualified twice in the top three.

While Radical runners have a round on this weekend some have chosen to do double duty in the Australian Prototype Series, with Simon and Anthony Haggerty, David Crampton, Peter Paddon, Phil Hughes, Michael Whiting, Chris Sutton and Kim Burke.

The lone runner in the F1000 class is West Australian Terry Peovitis, who will mix it with the other prototypes and will be looking to challenge.
