BJR SCRATCHES PERCAT CAR

Nick Percat is out of the Supercar races at Albert Park for the rest of the weekend.

Percat emerged winded but unhurt from a high-speed impact involving Lee Holdsworth and the Brad Jones Racing crew have determined that the car cannot be repaired in time for the ensuing races.

The Adelaide driver described the impact as the biggest of his life.

“I have never had a big crash, ever. That is my biggest one. I had really good pace at the pre-season Test Day and my pace here was in the top four.

“It took all the oxygen out of me. I was coughing when I got out, from the fumes.”

The crash was caused by a brake failure.

“I hit the brakes at about the 150m board and the car went right. I thought, if I can clear the others without hitting anyone, that would be ideal. Unfortunately I hit Lee.

“I just held on and waited to hit the fence but I hit Lee.”

Supercars racing continues this evening with Race 2 at 5:50pm.
