MUSCLE CAR MASTERS GOES ENDURANCE

By Heath McAlpine

The Muscle Car Masters will feature an endurance element for the first time this year as the 6 Hours of Sydney is set to feature in the October 27-29 event.

The 6 hours of Sydney will be made of two three hour segments, starting with the first three hour leg at 4pm on Saturday afternoon racing into the twilight. The second three hour leg of the race will be held on Sunday morning, while a Saturday night pit party will be staged for competitors, fans and officials.

The event program will be designed to continue to maximise the track time for the regular Muscle Car Masters categories, events and celebrations.

“The introduction of the 6 Hours of Sydney within the fantastic Australian Muscle Car Masters event is a win-win for fans and competitors alike,” said ARDC CEO Glenn Matthews.

“It offers potential competitors a high profile race meeting that remains one of the most popular held at Sydney Motor Sport Park each year. Fans will enjoy a different style of racing for that weekend and an even broader array of vehicles.

“We think it integrates well into the existing Muscle Car Masters concept and evolves the event moving forward into the future.

“We are strong supporters of the concept and think it will be a fantastic addition to the event.”

The eligibility list will feature a mix of Production Touring and Production Sports cars, while Improved Production cars are also eligible to compete.

All cars will compete with a yet to be confirmed control R-Spec tyre.
