WHINCUP QUICKEST IN PRACTICE

By Auto Action

This morning’s practice sessions for Sunday’s Bathurst 12 Hour have seen an event free start to the weekend.

Russell Ingall set an impressive 2:06.439 in the Castrol BMW M6 GT3 on a dirty and damp track, due to morning drizzle.
The first practice session was for Pro-AM, Am and class cars only with second going to the Miedecke Stone Motorsport

Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3, .763s arrears, while third was the Trofeo Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan, 1.359s behind the BMW.

The Dodge Viper GT3 of Jamie Augustine, Ben Schoots and Dean Lillee were fastest of the Invitational Class entries, setting a 2:10.344, while Stephen Grove, Ben Barker and Alex Imperatori in their Porsche 997 GT3 Cup Car led Class B with a 2:15.749. GT4 was led by the Prosport Performance Porsche Cayman of Andy Pilgrim, who set a 2:23.481

The second session was a crowded affair as the Pro Class cars were included with Jamie Whincup spending valuable time behind the wheel after an intermittent gear actuator problem limited Maranello Motorsport’s testing program. Whincup set a fastest time of 2:04.192 to go quickest. The BMW Team SRM BMW M6 GT3 of Steve Richards, Mark Winterbottom and

Marco Wittmann set a time of 2:04.373 to sit second while the #75 Jamec Pem Racing Audi R8 GT3 LMS of Frank Stippler, Robin Frijns and Marcus Winklehock completed the top three with a 2:05.002. A minor setback for the MARC Cars BMW

M6 GT3, but it completed the session.

The sister Jamec Pem Racing Audi of Garth Tander finished fourth ahead of the #23 Nissan of Michael Caruso.

The top ten was completed by the Castrol BMW in sixth, the Scott Taylor Motorsport Mercedes, the Objective McLaren, the #1 plate holding McLaren in ninth and completing the top ten was the Greg Taylor, Elliot Barbour and Nathan Antunes Audi.

The Dodge again went fastest in Class I, as did Grove Motorsport in Class B while the #55 RA Motorsport Ginetta G55 led C Class.
