KERRY DOESN’T LOSE THAT NUMBER…1

By Auto Action

Kerry Madsen claimed back to back Australian Sprintcar Championships by winning last nights 40 lap A Main final of the 2017 SCCA Rod Bowen’s Prestige Smash Repairs Australian Sprintcar Championship at Sydney’s Valvoline Raceway, Parramatta.

Following three nights of racing and in front of a packed house at the iconic Parramatta track, Madsen started alongside the pole man James McFadden and took the lead on the opening lap of the grueling 40-lap feature race. The two fought it out until a coming together saw the #17 car cut down his left front tyre.

From there on it was pretty much a single lane racetrack to the end with Madsen in control.

It was a race that saw the veterans take the money, with Kerry Madson leading home brother Ian, a rejuvenated former Australian Title winner Robbie Farr on the podium in third. Brooke Tatnell fought hard all weekend to claim fourth ahead of second generation racer Jordan Brazier in fifth.

Madson gets to keep his A1 number for another 12 months and in doing so created a little bit of history, Kerry taking the win and Ian runner up, the brothers become the first siblings in the history of the sport to finish 1-2 in the SCCA Australian Sprintcar Championship.
